Okay, so Rick asked about music that I would highly recommend, so here goes nothing. I'm going to start in the 2004-2006 regime and then I'll talk about 2008 music later. Some of this I have HIGHLY recommended in the past but I'm doing it again since there are those of you who need a soap ænima. (Please somebody get the reference).

1. Das Ich, Lava/Glut. I have been recommending this since I received the advance in 2003. You NEED this album, but what you really need is a copy of the promotional album they released for DJs. Call their label and see if you can get it (Danse Macabre... however you spell it).

2. Coil, The Ape of Naples. Why is this album more important than other Coil albums? Well, let's see... OH... this is the album that contains all of the bits that they SHOULD have released on Nothing Records but didn't since they're a bunch of *@&*!s.

3. 8Khz Mono, Monochromator. While you and your buddies were off thinking that :wumpscut: is talented, these guys have been TEARING UP the European scene for more than four years. Just run out and BUY anything they have.

There's a song on there called "One," and often times I would play it at the end of the night at clubs. A lot of people would dance to it and then ask me what it was... so I just told them it was the new :wumpscut:. I find it hilarious that when I tell people that some new music they enjoy is :wumpscut:, the music is okay... but if I said it was a bunch of Europeans nobody heard of in the Bay Area... then I'd probably get slapped.

By the way, these guys do a much more traditional type of EBM than the crap that passes for EBM nowadays... (you know.. "terror EBM"... "noise EBM," or whatever these asshats parading around as musicians want to call it).

4. Spetznaz, just buy anything of theirs and see if you like it. David King of DeathGuild fame booked these guys for November somewhere in San Francisco. They are ACTUAL EBM. Yes, as in Front 242/Nitzer Ebb/Fixmer+McCartney-style EBM. Basically, some guys who stand up at the drumkit, a synth line or two, and some crazy rivethead who is 6' tall and 100lbs yelling about how much society sucks.

5. The Nine, Invasion. A band so popular that their friends took their songs, remixed them.. and put them out on an album for them, (or at least that's what they used to tell people). Seriously, if you like synth, why the hell don't you have this album? One of the best synth albums to come out in years and NOBODY has bought it since their distribution sucks.

6. Just buy the new System Syn album. For those of you who don't know System Syn, you are missing out on quite a bit. Sure, Atom Strange can't write a verse of lyrics to save his life, but he can program and write a chorus line that will have you hooked and singing it for weeks.

7. Michigan, Red Dawn. You like synth, right? Here's ANOTHER famous synth band that Europeans kill for but nobody here plays. Just buy this album and anything else you can find by them.

8. The Three Cold Men. Three UGLY, UGLY, UGLY Italians who are all famous music producers... if you see any of their remixes, go ahead and buy them since they are talented. They have a very nice cover of "Fade to Grey" by Visage.

Okay, that's it, I have to design weapons technology now - message me on Tribe.net or call me if you need me.

Ebay is your friend.. and so is calling up labels or directly IMing people on MySpace.

www.GEMM.com is the largest database of international collectors in the world. That is how I got my HIGHLY coveted, first-edition of Borghesia's "Pro Choice" album and my original copy of Schaft's "Switchblade." Yes, somebody in Japan sent it to me for $12.00 including shipping... BEAT THAT AT EBAY.com

Failing all of that, you could just break into Christian Grey's car and steal his CD cases, since it's obvious that's what the best DJs in San Francisco do when they need access to REAL industrial.

Ouch, that's so bleak. Seriously, I wonder what happened to that amazing fucking collection of Grey's.

Sadly, the junkies who probably did it had no idea what a valuable collection they had stolen. They also probably got shite
for it on the used CD market.

Didn't you say that the Borghesia "Pro Choice" CD was out of print?

I wonder if I could get a CDR of it (and then send a paypal donation to their
        site if they have one.

Write me off list if the answer is yes.

          hahahhahaahaha,

What do you know of Borghesia, young man? Well hopefully you know that they were instrumental in getting Laibach into the mainstream. They were also on "Play it again, Sam Records," along with Laibach. I think "Pro Choice" was only released in some small country like Croatia.

Oh, do me a favour and tell some of the SC_goth folks that I'm going to start doing a lot of new music reviews over here. I'd post it over there, but that's not the point of that list.

Aye, that Schaft CD cost me about $45 new to import from Japan when it was released - that's a good deal!

                Hey George,

I"m glad you think of Grey as the BEST Rivethead DJ in the known universe.

That's my opinion of him, too.

San Francisco needs to USE this motherfucker more frequently.

Well I recognized his talent just by talking to him for all of three seconds. The funny thing is, I didn't even see his collection or know much about him.. but I knew there was something special about X-ian.

He can't get gigs in the same way I don't get a lot of gigs. We both have an insane amount of music and are technically proficient... the problem is that Christian is too nice and supportive so people don't think he needs to DJ. I have the exact-opposite problem... I'm just too damned mean and won't show up to events unless dragged or unless I'm booked to perform.

It's okay, because I think with his temperament and attitude, people will continue to book him. That being said, it sucks that Mitch at DeathGuild took that shit DJ under his wing instead of just booking Christian. Then X-ian would have been the next big thing at DeathGuild.
