So lately I've been playing around a lot with the people doing Psychward at the :retox: in San Francisco. It's a fun bunch of folks, and turns-out that three of us were Defiance residents: Neshamah; 2bit; and myself. Our next date is coming up in August and I'll post flyers here when they're finished.
ALSO, and this is something pretty big...
I've decided that since I have distribution from many labels, that I should just post reviews of everything new on here when I finally get to listening to it.
So the question that remains is.... WHAT albums do you want me to preview and post reviews of on this listing? I have almost every advance that is released, and if I don't have it, I can get it.

There is such a dirth of compiled reviews of new releases that little
mini reviews of everything new would be find.
Obviously don't kill yourself, but it would be such a service to
the greater goth/industrial/ebm/powernoise community
to have such a forum.
And give my love to Nehsamah when you see her. She is one of my favorite people in the scene.

oh yeah, and one more thing occured to me:
When I make it to good record stores with listening stations , I try to listen to a lot
of the new stuff. They have a fair amount at Streelight San Jose (Bacomb Avenue)
and the ability to listen to all of it on their listening stations.
Honestly, I've not been knocked out by much and I suspect that there's either an
underground scene of cool stuff that I"m missing or that we just seem to be in a lull
in these genres lately.
What's your take on the musical scene and it's output, Dante?
YOu have much more of your finger on the pulse than I do.
I'd LOVE to hear what is really turning you on.
I'll go buy it straight away as I can afford it.
Looking forward to your recommendations. You are the bomb.
yours, Rick
ps when is YOUR SHIT going to hit the stage, by the way. I think you would make fantastic music with your talent, knowlegde and obvious intelligence. -

Hey Rick and all,
So here's some thoughts on your comments.
1. As far as the number of reviews, Well I don't think that there's a dirth of good reviews since the reviews I see online are for mostly *!&% albums, or albums that have been out for a while, or albums that are connected to the magazine/organization reviewing them, etc. Many reviewers aren't really choosing their material to review.. they're just taking whatever they like or whatever ends-up on their desk randomly.
2. Let me give you an interesting point of view here. Every three months, I either receive physically or digitally through distribution means about 1600 albums. I throw-out around 1200 of them after a 5-second preview, and then throw out another 300 after a closer inspection. Of the 100 albums left, I usually manage to get 20 into my DJ rotation. -

Unsu...
Dante-
Damn! That's quite an attrition rate on those albums!
Anyway, maybe a review kind of idea would be to let us all know of the 2-5 albums or singles that got through your filters in a particular month. That could be a good way of letting us know of a particular bright spot that might have slipped under the radar for us folks that are just fans of the music.
Just a thought... and welcome back!
